f.o. : hey sailor!
This was a last winter project that I’m finally getting around to posting. My Hey Sailor! by Andrea Mowry was super addictive to knit because of the clever pattern and construction.
I love that this t-shirt can be worn with the buttons in front or back making it a pretty versatile construction. I knit mine in Knitting for Olive cotton merino (this was my first time using this line from Knitting for Olive) and it was a dream to work with. The colors I chose for mine were dark sea green and cream.
f.o.: sweater no.18
Yet another dupe! I saw another knitter on ravelry make the Sweater No. 18 by My Favorite Things using this unusual color—a gradient from Malabrigo Rios yarn line called Primavera, which is a gradient of yellows, greens, purples, grays, and oranges. This is not a color way I’d normally choose but I’m trying to branch out in 2025 and work some more unique pieces.
f.o. : olga sweater.
I’m quite pleased with my Olga Sweater by PetiteKnit, which I completed at the very start of 2025 and still haven’t worn out in the world. I decided to take some color risk, which is part of my goal setting for this year of makes, and went with a bold red and purple palette. This particular combination is a dupe of another knitter’s finished product that I was really drawn to when I was trying to decide on what yarn and colors to pursue for this project.
f.o.: terrazzo sweater.
It’s been a Petiteknit winter for me, apparently. This is the Terrazzo Sweater and I knit it in the most gorgeous Noro Madara in the sake colorway. Wow. What a dream yarn.
f.o.: shadow stripe pullover.
The Shadow Stripe Pullover by Jared Flood was an absolute dream to knit. The saddle shoulder construction was different and playful and I absolutely love the fit and drape of this garment. Endless color combinations but I went with exactly the color and shape of one of the full length samples that was featured—not colors I normally wear but that lime green is so gorgeous and fun.
wip: wave sweater.
I’ve had the Wave Sweater by Spektakelstrik - Mie Firring on my list for awhile and debated back and forth about color and yarn. I decided to knit with Knitting for Olive Heavy Merino for the first time and I am generally pleased with its ability to keep the shape of the color work and it’s soft feel. It does seem like a workhorse yarn.
w.i.p. : westward.
I’ve swatched for this pattern, measured, and measured again. The Westward Sweater by Tayler Harris is beautiful and it knits up quickly. But I’ve found that I’m petite. Real petite. I knew I was of short stature, but doing a dolman style sleeve has really tested my ability to get the oversized but not swimming on me fit I need.
Despite redoing the sleeves once and it feeling really great pre-block, the sleeves just ballooned after washing. So I’ll need to rip back about two or so inches on these and redo the ribbing. That will at least require very little knitting.
swatch: westward.
Maybe this is the year I am better about always swatching for projects. It's what you need to do to get the best fit for your body, after all. And when you spend this much time making things, you better not waste your time avoiding the tedious bits.
f.o.: grandma's medley.
Realizing I've failed to document so many things I've made over the last few years as the audience for blogging dwindled, I'm looking at what I've made during this time. And even though no one is reading this, that's O.K. It's kind of a living record of how I've stuck with this craft and kept at it; how I've grown, explored new fiber, stretched myself to try new things and to take risks.
f.o.: regolith.
So this is the third pattern I've knit from the gorgeous Cosmology Collection by Kiyomi and Sachiko Burgin--it's the Regolith hoodie by Kiyomi Burgin and boy it's beautiful.
